Activating Wells Fargo cards is as simple as going to your local branch or by phone. To activate your account, you must have an active checking account with Wells Fargo and be at least 18 years of age.
Once you have found the account you need, you will be required to provide some basic information to the WFA. This information will include your name, address, social security number, and date of birth. You can also choose to provide your bank account number. Your account number will be entered into the system by the Wells Fargo representative.
It is important that you know the credit limit and interest rate of the checking account that you are opening. There are many ways to do this, such as having a copy of your recent credit report sent to you through the mail or having your credit card statements sent to you directly from your bank. You can even request a free copy from each bank. If you don't know how much your checking account has in it, call the bank that issued it to find out.
Once you have completed your initial account verification with the WFA, you will need to provide a photo ID to the representative. This ID must be original and not expired in any way. The photo ID should be a government issued card.
After you have provided all of the above information, you will be given a PIN number to help the representative activate your account. Once you have done that, you are ready to deposit funds into your account and use the card.
You should check that the card that you are using has a back up mode so that if you lose your card, you have another available. If you have more than one card, it is important that they are stored in different locations, preferably at different branches so that your card does not become lost.
Fees may be charged depending on your account status. You will receive a bill every month and you may have to pay the balance on your account before you receive the card bill. Some fees include a balance transfer fee and transaction fee. If you use the card for online transactions, you will also be charged a fee for the amount of money that you transfer.
Fees are usually not as high as they are when shopping at the retail store. However, they still exist and should be paid . . . . . . on time to avoid getting caught without your money.
When you find yourself having trouble with your account or becoming late with a payment, contact your Wells Fargo branch. They can help you get your account paid off and help you activate your Wells Fargo card.
