The Sears MasterCard is probably the better choice (as far as rewards are concerned) than the Sears credit card. You get to redeem your points for free merchandise (which you can use in your store) and even in some cases for free trips to your home store. As a reward for using their cards, you will earn free points which you can redeem at the two major retailers for discounts and free merchandise.
The only disadvantage of the Sears cards is that they do not work with Kmart stores. It is very unlikely that you will receive any benefits from using a Sears card to make purchases at the Kmart stores. They do not offer any rewards. However, it is possible to get a discount through the Sears Reward Program by redeeming your points with them. This discount does not apply to purchases made in Kmart stores, and it is not free merchandise.
If you do not want to use your Sears Mastercard at the local store, they do have a card for you to use online. The rewards include free merchandise (which you can use in your home store). You can also earn free airfare by using your points with this card. You can also use the Sears Points program to earn cash rewards.
Even though they do not offer any cash rewards, the free merchandise is good enough to get you to sign up for their card. Once you have been approved, you can use your reward points to purchase merchandise in your home store, as well as products for other retailers, such as electronics stores. They will send you promotional emails to let you know when you are eligible to receive discounts and free merchandise, and if you are, they will contact you and let you know exactly what you need to do in order to apply for the discount.
There are a number of things you can do to maximize your rewards and save money while you are at home store. First, buy merchandise that you would not normally purchase. It is better to shop at the local store whenever possible, especially if you have a limited budget. You can save hundreds of dollars a year by buying only the products you really need in your store. You can also earn bonus points each time you purchase items at your home store and then redeem those points for merchandise that you would not normally buy.
The point system works best with purchases that take place at your local Sears store, not your home store. If you travel frequently, consider . . . . . . shopping at an online Sears store. Many people travel out of town and can never seem to find a store that accepts their cards. While you may be limited on the number of stores you can use your card at, if you stick to the main three or four stores in your area, you will still qualify for the maximum amount of points allowed. For example, if you visit your local Sears store once a month, you will earn the maximum of two hundred Sears Points.
